Gui Boratto

Discovering music and more specifically, discovering songs that you really like is a fantastic thing. The feeling I get from finding a song that makes me just sit back and stop whatever I am doing is one of my happiest. I was roaming the internet looking for something new and came across Gui Boratto's 'No Turning Back'. There was something different about the song that I couldn't figure out. Maybe it was the never-before-heard sounds that my ears had just experienced but I played it another three times and this song was now a favorite. It has compiled inside of it, a number of instruments and sounds ranging from guitars to synths and bells, to piano, or to the melodic chorus.

Gui Boratto is a producer from Brazil who reminds me of Deadmau5. Not in looks or anything like that, but in the way of when I first found out about the mau5. His sound is something that you can't compare to anyone else and that's what I first noticed about Gui Boratto. The tech-electronic producer started his career in 2005 and released 'Chromophobia' in 2007. His most recent is 'Take My Breath Away' which was released back in March. I also think his album covers would make great posters.

Tiesto released a 19-track bombshell last week. So you can only guess what I am about to put up here.

I saw Deadmau5 at Lovevolution and if you have never seen him live, I highly stuggest you do before dying. He played a lot of his new stuff from 'Lack of a Better Name' but I was a bit disappointed that he decided no to spin 'To Play Us Out'. I've heard rumors that he doesn't own the song or some other nonsense but I doubt it.

and finally there's a remix of Heartbreaker that doesn't suck balls.

Tiesto breaks away from his normal Trance-like sound and shows us a new Electro/Techno/Pop side that I've never heard before from him. Will it be a success or failure? Time will tell. I personally love the cd and would recommend going out to purchase it.

Here are my favorites

Update in Taste

What's up people, I hope you're in need of some good music. New tunes by a lot of big names

These next two are heavy. Turn up the volume or wear headphones trustttttttt me ...and maybe smoke a bowl too?

Armin van Buuren and Tiesto have been making a lot of remixes lately but unfortunately for Tiesto, his tunes weren't tasty enough.

Armin decided to release a new song as well. Best song of 09?

And to end it here's new ones by First State and Ronski Speed.

Thanks for stopping by

SEPTEMBER

School has begun for most people and along with it comes all the wonderful stress. Fortunately for you, I have some tracks that will help you take your mind off of it.

I had the chance to see Ronski Speed at a club in San Francisco last week and even though he had a pretty terrible technical failure halfway through his set, he still delivered a great show.

Next up is a remix from the guys who make up Inpetto.

And now my favorite for this month, a mash-up of Tracking Treasure Down and Chakalak.

Ripped from last week's ASOT:

And here's alil house.
Miike Snow- Animal (Fake Blood Remix) [right-click to download]

and here's some that are not.

August: Update of Taste

Welcome back. Let's get right into it. Daft Punk released a new track.

But first up we have a great mash-up of Glenn Morrison's "Contact" and 4 String's "Take Me Away".

or maybe you prefer the other mix.

Next in the order is a summer classic. I put the radio edit up with it because I cannot decide which one is better.

Last month, one of the greatest musical genius' of all time sadly passed away. Michael Jackson will truly be missed. Here is a great remix and tribute to the original King of Pop.

Tiesto and Sneaky Sound System teamed up to make this amazing new track.

If it is remixed by Deadmau5, there's a high change that it will be good. The man from Canada doesn't disappoint with these gems.

Switching our attention to the house scene now we have a great remix of Gorillaz "Kids With Guns".

NEW DAFT PUNK :)

And the last one in this edition is a catchy little tune that I just couldn't resist.

Mid-month munchies

Welcome to another update of our very tasty blog and I hope your summer is going fucking awesome. A nice update I have to everyone's playlist with these tunes this month, I even threw in some dnb. I have been working on a set for you all the past couple weeks and thus the minimal trance tracks. Hope you all are stony and in the mood for nothing but my favorite tracks of the month.

I think this is one of the most played songs that me and my brother share on our ipods, and it is off an album worth purchasing, all who don't have it; I'm talking about In Search Of Sunrise 7 by Tiesto. The track is by Rachael Starr and its called To Forever, done up in a mix by Moonbeam. Been played 121 times on my ipod fyi. Another track I felt needed to be highlighted this month, is off his 6th In Searh Of Sunrise, and it just gives me the chills when I hear the vocals mixed seamlessly with the ambient sounds of the track, they really go together nice.
Rachael Starr - To Forever (Moonbeam Remix)
Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek (Tiesto Remix)

Next up is one of the top DJ's in my mind and is responsible for some great piano and guitar hooks in all of his songs. It is Roger Shah aka Sunlounger aka DJ Shah. The track I have for you today is off his new album titled Songbook and is called Don't Wake Me Up.
DJ Shah - Don't Wake Me Up

Time to take a trip to the other side of the music spectrum and enter the world of deep and dark dnb. First up is a familiar name to those of you that picked up the couple of tracks I threw at you all in a previous month, he goes by the name of Spor. He is one of the DJ's I have yet to see live and I don't think ill ever get the chance to since he is based in the UK but it definitely would be sick.
Spor - Powder Monkey

This next track is a collaboration between 2 giants of dnb, Teebee (half of Calyx&Teebee) and Future Prophecies. If this track doesnt get you moving back and forth in your chair, go see a doctor. Almost all tracks released by Future Prophecies has a certain flow to it that screams out old school dnb and just grabs your attention right away; so here is also a cut from their album Warlords Rising; fucking sick album name I know.
Teebee & Future Prophecies - Let The Bass Kick
Future Prophecies - Miniamba

Thats pretty much it from me this month; hope to get you all a taste of my first compilation next time. Peace, love & spliffs.

July: I'm back

Hello all, sorry about the delay on posting but I was on holiday for about a month and had no means of updating the blog. Fear not though, things will get back to normal now and you can expect an early mid-month munchies from Sessions in a few weeks.

With that said lets get this started.

Over this past year I have really enjoyed and discovered Cosmic Gate. If you haven't heard their fairly new CD called A Sign Of The Times, I suggest you get on it. Nic Chagall, the other half of Cosmic Gate, is fast becoming one of the top DJs in the world by producing amazing singles. Here is a fresh new one and a track on their latest album:

Alright incase you already don't know, Armin Van Buuren released his annual A State Of Trance 2009 album last month and it has taste written all over it. The first CD is called On The Beach and delivers some very relaxing tunes. The second is In The Club, enough said. Here are a couple from the new album and his most recent podcast show:

Dash Berlin, Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren- Man On the Run (Nic Chagall Remix)

And last but not least I am going to share with you a fantastic remix of Glenn Morrison's "Contact", which was originally on Tiesto's In Search Of Sunrise 6 Ibiza. Enjoy.

Motorcycle vs Glenn Morrison- Deep Breath Contact (Myon & Shane 54 Mashup)

Okay well that's it for now, see you all next month!

April

Hello hello again everybody, April is here already and spring (and sunshine) has come with it. Summer is just around the corner and I know that makes everyone feel just a bit happier. I have a couple of gems for you all, so sit back and enjoy the music.

We start this month off with a man who has emerged in the last few years as one of the world's major trance DJs. He goes by the name of Gareth Emery and is primarily based in England. If you have never heard of him yet, you are in for a real treat. This first one is a new song, called "Exposure", which he released earlier last month. The second, is one of my all-time favorite tracks that never seems to get old.

Sticking with the trance scene, here we have the two best/most popular/biggest DJs in the world, Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren. Could you imagine what a show would be like if these two combined? Neither could I. They would have to shut down a small country and use it temporarily for a combined show I think. Although, there are rumors around the internet that say Tiesto AND Armin Van Buuren will be playing at next years 2010 World Cup in South Africa. It's a long shot, but a shot none the less. This first one is arguably one of the best songs in 2008 and it is off Armin's A State of Trance 2008 album, and the second is what I think to be one of Tiesto's best.

I am really excited to be going to Coachella later this month and will be there on a day when both MSTRKRFT and The Chemical Brothers will be playing. Here is a great remix they did of Justice's tune.

Also, if you guys don't know already, there are a bunch of really good podcasts on itunes that you can subscribe to for free. Above & Beyond puts on a great show weekly called "Trance Around The World". I ripped a song from their latest episode #261 and put it conveniently on zshare for you all. Enjoy.

Well that's it for now. Check in again at mid-month for the next dosage of taste, compliments of Sessions himself.

Mid-month munchies

Rejoice music lovers cause it's time for your 2nd dosage of the danks. If you are feelin stressed about how shitty our economy is and are among the majority of us who are un-employed, turn up those speakers and let the neighbors feel the bass while you escape listening to the following tracks.

This month I'm going to throw in a little DNB at you. This Tues. I'm going to see Dieselboy at a small venue and can't even put into words how amped I am. If you have no clue what drum and bass is, please be aware that if you listen to these songs without a sub, it does them no justice at all, hence the 'bass'. First up I'd like to share a couple tracks with you from an up and comming DJ nammed Spor. Best known for his 'drops' in his songs, this UK DJ is producing some gritty, heart-thumpin sounds that shows where DNB is evolving to.
The Qemists - Stompbox (Spor Remix)
Ewun, Spor & Evol Intent - Levitate
Spor - Aztec

As if you didnt see this comming, here a couple tracks I digg from Dieselboy. They are off his album titled Substance D.
Friske & Perpetuum - Step Up
Dieselboy, Evol Intent & Ewun - Midnight Express
edit: I changed these to mp3 so you can preview them now

To wrap up my bloggage for this month, I selected a couple tunes that I have collected which put you in a trance. See you all next month; o and I almost forgot, FOLLOW THIS BLOG, seeing how many ppl are stoaked on our music keeps us motivated to keep comming back each month for you.
Cosmic Gate ft. Emma Hewitt - Not Enough Time
Evanescence - Hello (Trifactor vs Gabriel Dresden Remix)
Thrillseekers - Future (Rank 1 Remix)
Pryda - Miami To Atlanta (Original Mix)

March Madness

Bonjour everyone, and welcome to another edition of Tasty Tunes. Last month was a great start-off and I would just like to personally thank everyone who have been helping with the blog. Please Please Please feel free to leave some comments about the songs that you liked (or didn't like). K, with that out of the way lets get this started. Bongloads are optional, but greatly encouraged before listening.

These first two are brought to us by Deadmau5. He is from Canada and has become extremely popular over the past year. Deadmau5 produces a different type of sound that can't quite be catagorized. The only way you can describe it as house/trance/electro. I also think it's pretty awesome that he wears a huge mouse-head (called the "Mau5head") at his shows live. The thing even has strobe lights built into the eyes. The first song is straight off of Benny Benassi's new album Toolroom Knights.

Now I would like to share with you one of my all time favorites. Remixed by a musical genius named Diplo. It seems like almost everything this man touches turns into an instant tasty. The original is one that I am sure you are all familiar with, and that is Umbrella. The second song is a great remix of Justin Timberlake's "My Love" and yes, that is LCD Soundsystem you hear.

Next up are some ladies from Finland. The 3-girl group goes by the name of Le Corps Mince De Françoise. Although I must admit that I first discovered their remixed song by Les Gillettes (also a lady from Finland), I quickly found out how good the original is as well. Good work Finland.

Now lets turn our attention to the trance scene and indulge in some more ear candy.

Armin Armin Armin. His music/mixes/shows bring joy to millions of people around the world including myself. Armin Van Buuren is arguably the biggest DJ in the world and he proves it time and again with sharing hits like these on his show. These two are off his weekly show called A State Of Trance.

Well that's it for now. Thanks for reading.

Mid-month munchies

Whats up people, Sessions here with a couple tracks to calm your nerves and put you in the mood to chill. Like Jman said I will be making up the second part of your monthly dosage of good music. So take a bongload, throw on some headphones and enjoy.

The first track I present is off of DJ GT vs Project C's first hour from their Voices of Trance July '08 set. This song is best played with a 12" sub right next to your head. If that track wasn't enough to get you curious about this amazing duo from Orange County, I threw in another song from Voices of Spring '07 (Happy).
Ernesto Bastian - Ein (Extended Version)
Snow Patrol - You Could Be Happy (Pillow One Remix)

Here we have a tune off Armin's ASOT; with him being the #1 DJ and all he's gotta have a good taste of music. There's a shitload of mixes for this song but the first one i heard and fell in love with was the 4AM mix of the track 'man on the run'.
Dash Berlin feat. Cerf Mitiska & Jaren - Man On The Run (4AM Mix)

This next guy, DJ Shah, reminds me of a gentle giant. Looking at a couple of photos of him it would impossible to tell that this man loves a good melody. I don't know, he looks like a Pharaoh from Egypt, ready to put some pasty's back to work, anyway, this is off the second CD from his tasty album Sunny Tales under his name Sunlounger.
Sunlounger - Lost (CD2 Mix)

Next 2 songs your hungry ears can nom on are from the gents that make up Above & Beyond. With a solid beat and great vocals from OceanLab, the album Sirens of The Sea is a good choice to pick up. The song 'on a good day' is straight from the album but the other is a mix from Martin Roth (another talented DJ).
Above and Beyond pres. Oceanlab - On A Good Day
Above and Beyond pres. Oceanlab - Miracle (Martin Roth vocal remix)

Tasty Tunes numero uno

February, a shitty and cold month with a lame holiday. School is back in full session and in between homework and classes I am able to share with you the tasty tunes of February. I saw Amplive in SF last weekend and I would suggest seeing him live. His remixes of Radiohead are amazing.

See you all in March,
Jman

A movie about Notorious came out last month and here is a nice little remix to go along with it.

Also, my mexi counterpart will treat you all to a mid-month edition of tasty tunes. His name is sessions and he usually plays vocal trance. c ya!

Let the tastyness begin

After filling my computers up with way too much amazing music over the past couple of years, I have decided to start making a monthly blog called "Tasty Tunes". This blog will highlight my favorite tasty tunes of the month and I will share them with you. What kind of music will it be? Great question sir, I enjoy electric/trance/rap/acoustic randomness, so the tunes will consist of mainly one of those categories.

Enjoy yourselves bitches.
Jman

Klaxons - As Above, So Below (Justice Remix)
